Praia da Luz - Little can ever change the unique attraction of Praia da Luz with its quaint two floor Luz Bay cottages and narrow roads lined with oleander, hibiscus and bougainvillea. With few cars, no traffic lights or busy shopping centre, almost everywhere in Praia da Luz is within easy walking distance. Perfect for the family holiday - plenty of restaurants, superb water sports, a cinema, shops, banks, church and an excellent bus and taxi service to Lagos.

Lagos, often referred to as the gateway to the unspoilt Algarve, is the old Moorish capital of the region. Within the old city walls the narrow winding, cobbled streets and old buildings are alive with pavement cafes, over 300 restaurants and craft shops. There is plenty to do and see. The old slave market, museums, fort and churches are steeped in history. It was from the Bay of Lagos, that the great explorers set sail in the 15th Century.

Today there is the modern Lagos Marina from where you can take boats to explore the caves and grottos of Ponta Piedade or try your hand at some big game fishing. The glorious 4 km sandy beach of Meia Praia sweeps around the spectacular Bay of Lagos to Penina Golf Course and Alvor. To the West of Lagos are the spectacular and beautiful picture postcard beaches of Praia Dona Ana, Praia do Camilo and Porto do Mos. A scenic walk across the cliff tops brings you to Praia Da Luz followed by the quieter fishing villages of Burgau and Salema and numerous undeveloped coves and beaches. Cutting across the toe of Europe at Vila do Bispo, a twenty minute drive takes you to the National Park and the breathtaking surfing beaches of Praia do Amado and Carrapateira with miles of unspoilt coastline and not a villa in site. Inland one can explore the mountain spas at Monchique and the ancient castle town of Silves and experience a Portuguese way of life little changed over centuries.

For the more energetic there is golf, bowling, tennis, horseriding, blo-karting, hangliding, waterparks, diving, sailing, surfing, water skiing and The Zoomarine where you can swim with the dolphins.
